"Thai boxing is superior to regular boxing?

I have to solve a debate with my friend. I argue that Thai boxing is a superior fighting style normal to Western boxing because additional leg protection and offense that boxing lacks. My friend claims to the contrary. In other words, take two best boxers the same weight to fight in any rule-check (street fighting) of the contest, the Thai style of boxing almost won all the time. Is this true?

Obviously, Muay Thai is superior. Boxing trains only use fists and has rules that limit the elbows and other "illegal hits, while Muay Thai not have these rules and trains of kicks, elbows, knees, etc. If you want to show him some proof of this, watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSiE9Ed8jW4 In this video a Muay Thai fighter fight a normal boxer. The normal fighter, literally massacred by the Muay Thai fighter. Since boxing does not train to take shin kicks and other things that the boxer has no way to defend against the attacks of Muay Thai fighting.
