Should I dump my boyfriend cheap?

My boyfriend and I have been dating for a little less than a year. It certainly does "bad with money and still I take a very pleasant dinner, or I buy anything better than a cheap ring. I'm not a selfish person, but I think when you love someone you do little things to show them that I bought him a letter to let you know that I loved him. I bought a box of TV because I wanted it. I buy things to make you know that you care for him, and I also do tons of little things to let you know that love him. But it never takes me to dinner, if you do fast food. Not that he has no money, my problem is that it spends between 200 and 400 dollars a month to marijuana, a 100-200 months in video games, magazines, whatever-and the rest is blown. I've asked to go to places, but only spend $ $ on what he wants to do, concerts, etc. Not what I want. Am I being superficial? Or is that being a cheap idiot? help!
