Why not the boxers have medical benefits?

in a dangerous sport like boxing, and after seeing what happened to Gerald McClellan in 1995. It is sad that his family had to raise funds, while other boxers (as Roy Jones) had to donate money to help pay the bills midical Gerald. Boxers put their lives on the line every time you step on the ring (unless your Peter McNeeley fight), and serious injury can put a boxer and his family at home or simply most heavily indebted. I guess the NFL players receive a package of medical benefits, I do not see why boxers can not. especially when people like Don King and Bob Arum make millions of boxers until the fight becomes "damaged goods." not to mention all the money that the government of HBO and Showtime Network make this sport.

They could organize to demand more benefits or form an association of boxers. But this would probably end up with sports from the promoters could not shake off around without meeting the specific demands that could damage their portfolios.

The thing about Ali, tho…
