How do I ask my parents for boxing lessons necessary?
I am interested in taking muay thai kickboxing lesseons at a local gym. I ask my parents if I may, but I am worried that they will say no. I have 14 years and play lacrosse in the spring and run cross country this fall. I too am part of a winter lacrosse program that only meets one day a week. My parents complain about the price of my lacrosse team and the price of my classes guitar. My ideal scenario is to kickboxing classes (which meet two days a week) year round, without sacrificing any of my other hobbies. However, I would happy with just doing muay Thai in the winter and perhaps sacrificing temporarliy guitar (which costs twice as kickboxing). I'm sure my parents will come up eith a reason why I should not be in kickboxing, including but not limited to: too violent, it's too expensive, and I'm quite sports, etc. How I can convince them to let me go?
This is basically a problem of negotiation. His goal is to have a program in the gym. The best way to negotiate is to find what your parents have objections. Once you have heard the charges, regardless of what they are, go immediately to the MT to trade your favorite hobby. Whatever. So that if their parents say that MT is bad for you, countertop that costs less. If your parents say it costs too MT, counter to take guitar lessons that cost more. Its aim is to convince your parents that it costs less and is better for you, for MT or two of the other hobbies. Depending on how hard your parents want to negotiate, may have to put on the table some more hobbies. Or you can get a part-time work and pay out of pocket. The value of something is equivalent to what they are willing to sacrifice to achieve it. Remember that.
