Mike Tyson Boxing Highlights

Is this the kind of Highlight you would use to introduce a newbie in the world of boxing?

My nephew is only 8 but he is so much into soccer , Moto GP, WWE and UFC,everything i have shown him of boxing such as Manny Pacquiao ,Mike Tyson ,Rocky Marciano , Roberto Duran, Arthur Abraham , Klitschkos , Joe Calzaghe , etc bores him to death and he finds boxing too boring and one dimensional compared to the sports he likes!

I think for a boy of eight then you might want to introduce him to boxing/martial arts gently. All boys of his age are impressionable and generally into “super heroes” where the fighting is all “good guys v bad guys”.

Maybe you could sit with him and watch some Bruce Lee Films; or anything to do with Kung Fu and the Shaolin Monks- where the culture is more about self discipline giving extra strength and focus. The whole point about these films is the emphasis on being peaceful, that fighting is done only in self defence or defending the honour of family/the vulnerable and only as a last resort.

Maybe you could also take him to some Judo classes; that will get him interested in the martial arts/boxing sport generally. At that age my own son loved the kung Fu films and had some martial arts training at school. He was always very lively afterwards- be prepared to get out of the way as he leaps around the sofa!
