Boxing Is America in decline …..?
I mean .. I'm just looking through the World ratings and heavyweight, light heavyweight (175) Super middleweight (168) Environment (160) Light Welterweight (140) Super Featherweight (130 .. mostly) and all other weighing less … there are 5 or in most cases fewer fighters Americans in the top ten … American boxing is in decline … or is the rest of us catch up ….??
unfortunately, the American boxing is decline. this saddens me, because I am an American and a great fan of the sport. the problem is that many American athletes who in the past have turned to boxing, now are playing different sports such as football and basketball. I think this can be attributed to wage increases in American team sports. who wants to get punched in the face for $ 5 million when you can make $ 200 million to hit a baseball? In addition, young Americans idolize sports players team (football, ie, basketball, baseball), because they are constantly in your face (whether on television sets, or notices). boxers, on the other hand does not receive nearly the same amount of attention the media every day. name of the greatest fighters have only two fights a year, and only are covered by the media for a couple of weeks before the fight, and a couple of days after the fight.
