Why is my poor budgie die? "The woman still hatch eggs?

My budgie man died this morning I found him died in the nest for no known reason (he and his wife were in their third egg. …. Is parakeet female incubates her eggs even without her male friend? For Please help. I'll get a new friend I hope soon. Not two others in the cage. My man who died was the largest of the 4 parakeets, so there is no reason have died. Maybe old age as he dropped to a friend or cold? We have blankets over their cage, but it was quite cold last night. I live in Queensland, Australia

It could have been a number of things that killed him. However, I would hold off getting another parakeet. The new parakeet could streess women and cause to abandon their eggs. She is likely to hatch eggs and raise their babies themselves. If she does and her other pair with a nest, you can put the eggs / babies in the nest of others and should care for them. If there is another nest, you can see what happens and let him decide what to do. If you neglect to eggs, then you can buy a new budgie as partner and companion, hoepfully next time you raise some babies. I hoped this helped
