Boxing Terms

It is well known that the sport of boxing have many significant blows to the head during a period of time, and many are killed during his career and his opponents, and sparring. Goes with the territory, and if you are going to be a boxer is better get used to it. However, neurologists also know that it causes severe brain damage, and since a good many first world countries have universal health care now, you have to wonder who will pay for all this in the future?
Who will pay for the brain damage, the taxpayer, of course, but is that really fair? Surely not, and it used to be boxers knew the risks, and although can be a little stubborn, and willing to take risks in their younger days, that does not mean they do not seek medical help for post traumatic brain injury. However, other problems with this, and people with mental health problems can cause additional problems for society, especially if they are in a leadership position in our civilization.
Example, there was a recent article by Bill Dwyre entitled "Superstar Boxing returns to the political arena" and the article was about the Filipino Manny Pacquiao congressional candidate, a world boxing champion. In the article was a picture of him in General Santos City, which is just south of Manila, on parade waving to the crowd. Now it is great to see a star athlete with such notoriety, ready to return to the community and his country, nothing pleases me more than seeing someone who cares a lot.
However, one has to wonder whether it is appropriate for a boxing champion, or a professional boxer, who may or may not have brain damage severe than running a country, or become a congressman. In the United States, many people feel that some of the congressmen and women must have brain damage the way they vote, or that do not read many of the bills 2500 bus page being submitted to a vote. This of course is considered by the increasing number People who are cynical about the U.S. government.
But what if we throw in the prospect of congressmen and women really could have brain damage because their activities prior whether professional boxing, drug use, heavy drinking, and even brain cancer? If they are allowed to serve? And voters have a right to know? And while we're on this topic may have to have proof for all politicians before run for office just to sure they are in their right mind.
This of course is a political philosophical thought, and I've been mulling over no particular opinion, but I bet you have an opinion on it, and I would like to hear what they have to say. Please consider this.
