How were the fighters then able to do many fights?
famous boxers like Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran and Henry Armstrong are boxing record of more than 100 fights, which seems quite impossible today. How was this possible then?
Money, or lack of it requires men to fight at least once a month and sometimes more than that. Even renowned fighters do not earn much money, in relation to today's bags. fighters fought in what is called a circuit of clubs, where other young fighters fought sometimes for years before making it a main event. There were no champions only seven fights. Nobody left the amateur ranks and immediately received a great fight.
