How do you get a good cardio workout w/ a heavy boxing bag?
yea punching , but can anyone share how you can vary a routine?
Go for bouts. Time yourself for 2 minutes (amateur round length) or 3 minutes (professional round length).
First thing to remember is to stay on your toes, stagger your feet and keep moving from your waist down. Never cross your feet and always open then close your stance.
Now moving around a bag for 2 minutes straight is a tiring routine, 3 minutes is even harder. Start off by shoving the bag hard so it’s swinging. Move around it while keeping the same distance from it. Only throw jabs with your lead hand for one round.
Finish the round, take one minute off and begin the next round. Shove the bag and hit it with left-right combos. Do that for a round.
Do another round hitting with 3 or 4 punch combos.
Finish the workout by working on one specific aspect and just throwing that punch over and over. Doing one thing like that for 2 or 3 minutes straight will really build up the lactic acid and get you tired.
