Boxing Head Movement

Does excellence = boring in boxing?
I am so tired of people calling Floyd Mayweather, Bernard Hopkins, The Klitschkos and Winky Wright boring. They are excellent and they make fighting a sweet science. Otherwise it should just be a slug fest. Smart professional fighters have defense too. A true fan should eb excited to see blocking, head movement, parrying, shoulder rolls, and fighters who are elusive. Aggression is nice but nothing is more amazing to me than seeing a guy never get hit, because of his defensive prowess. What do you think?
I haven’t been a fan of heavyweight boxing since Tyson’s conviction and prison sentence. He was the last guy I was excited about watching. When he returned to boxing he wasn’t the same; He won some fights, but he no longer threw combinations. He was just a head hunter. I don’t know if you saw Hopkins fight Pavlik or not, but it was a pretty good boxing lesson as well as an ass whooping. ost of Pac’s fights are very good. Winky Wright has (had) good defense, but he hasn’t ko’d anyone for over 10 years. His best matches were with Shane Mosley, and he was just plain bigger than Shane, not necessarily better. Shane started his career as a lightweight, and he’s made it up to light middleweight, which is what he and Winky fought at, but he’s back down to welterweight. Winky’s last fight showed his weakness. He’s not a big puncher, so Paul Williams kept puncing at him. Eventually the punches are going to land if you can’t throw hurtful punches yourself. Williams threw over 1,000 punches against Winky, and landed about 40%. Winky was trying to rely on his defense, but that’s all he was concentrating on. Paul knew this and knew Winky couldn’t hurt him. Offense and defense need to both be good to be a world class boxer. Look at Ali ( or Cassius Clay rather) when he was young. He was very hard to hit, but he unloaded serious bombs. Look on youtube of Hopkins vs Lipsey. Hopkins slips a punch and counters with a jab to right uppercut in the same movement. Awesome clip. I’m a fan of Pernell Whitaker too, but once he got around 33 yrs old and was fighting the young lions like Trinidad and Oscar, his defense couldn’t hold up because his offense wasn’t effective enough to hold those guys off. A boxer has to have some kind of offensive threat in order to keep a guy from just wailing away because eventually punches will land. Floyd can hurt an opponent, not just slip their punches. I love boxing.
