boxing ears hearing loss
My ears are stopped up! I feel like I’m in a box!?

I had a cold about two, three weeks ago and my ears have been stopped up since then. I went to the pharmacy and they told me to take twelve hour sudafed, which I did- three times because of pressure headaches. This worked for awhile- only when I was on the medicine, but I didn’t like how it made me feel- I felt like I was on a great amount of drugs. Plus, when I woke up my ears just felt even more stopped up. Now, my ears are stopped up in a “clearer” way- I feel like I’m just slightly shielded from clear sound. I was thinking that it was hearing loss, but why would I have pressure? Please! I need some help now! Is hearing loss accompanied with pressure? Am I loosing my hearing or will this pass? Also, I just moved from Houston to San Antonio- is it the elevation? What can I do? Heeeeelllllp!

I have something similar .I my case my ears fill with fluid.
A small tube (eustachian tube) connects your ear to your throat. A cold can cause this tube to swell. When the tube swells enough to become blocked, it can trap fluid inside your ear. This makes it a perfect place for germs to grow and cause an infection.
Most ear infections go away on their own. You can treat at home with an over-the-counter pain reliever like Tylenol , a warm washcloth or heating pad on the ear, and rest. I have also had luck aiming the warm air from a blow dryer into my ear
Usually for me the heat and gently massaging my ear is enough to loosen the fluid . This time however I had to get a prescription for an antibiotic.
Good Luck and try to keep your ears dry when washing hair etc
