Horses that appear jumpy or lame are a great way to lose a lot of money where as a calm horse with its ears forward and walking quietly is at ease and probably the best choice to make. A jumpy horse my rear and hurt it self in the stalls prior to the event even starting or it can lame itself by misbehaving. In general the calmest and most alert looking horse is the safer choice the the horse with a funny name or the horse that everyone considers the favourite, think about ‘Whobegotyou’ the Caulfield Cup favourite he didn’t win or place.
