Is there some technique to hit a punching bag?

I just got a 100 pounds 6 feet tall punching bag and I'm trying to get a little better martial arts, is there some technique to hit? I can not pay for classes at this time that I have this until you can. thanks.

Here is the trick to a knock-out (pun intended) Here is something I learned from my combat training: Punch through your opponent will never hit your opponent body. The idea is not to hit his arm, but his whole. Step into the bag. As soon as your fist touches the bag, the foot should be almost on the floor, and your arm should be about at an angle of 45 degrees. While the foot is hitting the ground, make sure you drive the top half of his body in the bag (which causes a pulse) as extension of his arm. Just remember to not fully extend his arm. This is how injuries occur. Never let your guard down, and the practice slowly at first. Speed does not matter when it starts. While you're in a real fight adrenaline kicks in, and if all you've been practicing is speed, then its only going to have their arms waving and do nothing. A side note: The best shot is the one that is delivered around the same level of solar.
