boxing bag workouts
Is it worth getting a boxing bag?

i’m looking for a way to do lots of cardio at home as opposed to the gym, as i don’t get much time off from work.

my apartment is too small for a treadmill, and i prefer walking anyday

is a boxing bag a worthy purchase for cardio fitness? also, is there a site showing me different types of workouts involving a boxing bag?

thanks

i was in soccer for around 8yrs pretty and in and out of martial arts for 13years, and work at a physical job(in a warehouse). i can say i never worked out as hard as when i started thai boxing. when we have a choice at my gym most people rather spar than hit the punching bag because we you are sparring you arent going all out for 3 full mins like working on a bag.

some people do not realize especially with (14-16oz)gloves on they get heavy and if you aren’t in fighting shape hit the bag straight for 30secs is extremely tiring.

i do not know of any websites with workouts but i know some sports places have dvds maybe try lookin on youtube

but what we do is 3 3min rounds with a 1min break inbetween

1)do straight punches [left, right] repeatedly do not really focus on power more speed

2)if you have some1 to hold the bag for you have them call out a series of numbers your choice 1 – 2; or up to 1-6.

1-left jab 2-straight right 3-left hook (low/body) 4-right hook (low/body) 5 left hook (high/head) 6 right hook (high/head)
they can call any random numbers and you do it, or you can just think of the numbers

3)straight right left hook

4)freestyle
